of an E. E. Cummings poem, "somewhere I have never travelled, gladly beyond any experience..."
These paintings clearly reflect their creator's desire for harmony - as sublime, allegorical images
and titles lift upward to ecstasy, the clean, balanced structure of the composition grounds with
simultaneously calm, centered effect.
The artist explores the inner terrain of the human soul, the elusive abode of human emotion,
while also highlights the common threads uniting across geographic and cultural boundaries.
With a poet's instinct for rhythm and metaphor Vassilen wields the brush to create ethereal,
fresh, iridescently delicate moments on canvas. The airy and vibrant colors he employs are a
